Autumn on the trails

Fall at Slide Ranch is a season of contradictions: on the one hand, the ranch is a flurry of activity with school programs, family farm days, and even a few weddings. On the other, a few steps down our trails make you feel a world away: the shortening days and cooling temperatures invite a sense of slowness and introspection. The riotous blooms and foliage that mark spring and summer in our coastal scrubland have begun to fade, and the landscape is transformed into a tapestry of olives, golds, and browns, spangled with seed pods, lichens, mosses, and the last persistent wildflowers of the year. Now is the perfect time to come out and enjoy the unique sights, sounds, and scents of the season.
