The contribution volunteers make at Slide Ranch truly helps us deliver our mission! Whether you're a student fulfilling community service hours or someone who wants to put your green thumb to good use, Slide Ranch provides challenging, engaging and meaningful experiences. 

All minors 17 years and under must be accompanied by a participating adult. Minors cannot be dropped off.

Parent/Chaperones must complete the online registration form AND register themselves as participants.

Make your own natural watercolor pigments from invasive plants found along our trails. In this workshop, you will learn a creative approach and method to making watercolor pigments while in the field–learning how to successfully extract pigment, bind paint, and alter colors with iron or alum—actively engaging with our environment in a creative, exciting way. Pause for moments of reflection and painting along the way, as you begin to fill your new nature journal with the hues of foraged plants!

$85/per person, open to ages 8+.

Slide Ranch's Family Farm Day is an exciting 3.5-hour program, 9:30am-1:00pm, featuring goat milking.

Fall colors are some of our favorites! Join us in this crafty Family Farm Day for indigo dye, sunprints, fall watercolors, plant pressing, and more! As always our Family Farm Day will include a milking demonstration, followed by time with our goats, sheep, chickens, and ducks.

As All Hallow's Eve approaches, join us for a Family Farm Campout! Celebrate the season by pitching your tent at our campsite overlooking the ocean, having a campfire and waking up to a day exploring our farm and coastline. On Friday evening, join Slide Ranch staff for dinner, sunset whale- and birdwatching, and (weather permitting) a cozy campfire before camping under the stars. Saturday morning, enjoy breakfast before exploring Slide Ranch, meeting our animals, joining us for goat milking, touring our garden, and explorations around the ranch including in the garden where we will be making fairy wands and lovely hydrosols to keep the spirits at bay.

4pm arrival. Programming ends Saturday at 1pm

Family Farm Campouts are generously sponsored by PizzaHacker and Good Earth.

Please Note: Participants must bring their own camping equipment (including tent and sleeping bags). Red Flag Warnings are out of our control and cancel campfires.

Join us for a Full moon dinner at Slide Ranch’s Farm to Table Teaching Center. This will be an interwoven celebration of the stars, moon, and wonder of the night sky, plus of earth, garden, and what grows from the soil.

We are thrilled to be partnering with Chef Tikko Sperling Freilich. Born and raised in Vermont working with her family’s sourdough bakery, Tikko was always deeply involved in Vermont’s unique food system web. With a background in farming and cooking, Tikko is now involved in Slow Food East Bay and works at Chez Panisse, honing her culinary skills and expanding her slow food education. Under the Hunter’s Moon in the Slide kitchen, she will craft a beautiful, seasonal meal. 

After dinner, we will be joined by star experts, astronomers and astrologers, and break off into groups to learn about the universe, our world and ourselves. 

Don Jolley is a long-time resident of West Marin, and has served for nearly four decades as a teacher of Maths and Sciences at the Bolinas School. Don has extensive experience in outdoor education, having led over fifty expeditions to the eastern Sierra and Western Interior to study geology and Earth’s history as preserved in the fossil record.

Saturday, October 24th, 5:30-9:30pm
$95/pp, ages 14+ welcome

Spend some time with our sheep and experience the process of working raw wool into roving or yarn that is ready to craft with. In this evening workshop, we will enjoy a mocktail or two featuring herbs from our garden as we pick, clean, card, felt, and spin wool and work on a collaborative weaving or felting project. Every participant will take home one felted soap to enjoy at home or give as a gift. 

Thursday, November 5th, 2026, 5:30 - 7:30pm, meets by the Barn

$65/per person, open to ages 14+. 
Maximum 16 participants, Minimum 5 participants or cancels

Thankful Bellies - Enjoy a day of giving thanks to the amazing space that is Slide Ranch. We'll create poetry for our garden, enjoy fresh garden tea, herbed popcorn, fresh focaccia & pesto and celebrating the bounty our garden provides.

Additionally, you'll have the opportunity for self-guided tasting tours, and time with our chickens, ducks, goats, and sheep.

Saturday, November 14

Appropriate for all ages

Join us in our Farm to Table Teaching Center Kitchen and learn about the art of fermentation! This 3 hour workshop includes materials and instruction on making kimchi, and two additional fermented or pickled foods that may include sauerkraut, ginger-bug, pickled vegetable, or kombucha depending on the season and produce availability. Fermented foods support digestion, healthy immune systems, and energy. 

At the end of our workshop, you will leave with your flight of fermented treats and new knowledge and inspiration to continue fermenting and preserving food at home!

Slide Ranch's Family Farm Day is an exciting 3.5-hour program, 9:30am-1:00pm, featuring goat milking.

The garden gifts us with its bounty year round. Come explore its winter season and learn to make plant based gifts for friends, family, or yourself! We'll be making herb wreaths, tea, and salve. We'll also make candles to brighten the coming darker season.

Just in time for the holiday season! Using our garden's fresh herbs and flowers as inspiration, we'll create a selection of delicious simple syrups and craft wonderful beverages we can savor while taking in Slide Ranch's views and beautiful garden. Participants will leave with recipes to enjoy throughout the seasons. Includes a taste tour of our garden and a sample of freshly crafted simple syrup to take home.
