Spend some time with our sheep and experience the process of working raw wool into roving or yarn that is ready to craft with. In this evening workshop, we will enjoy a mocktail or two featuring herbs from our garden as we pick, clean, card, felt, and spin wool and work on a collaborative weaving or felting project. Every participant will take home one felted soap to enjoy at home or give as a gift.

Slide Ranch's Family Farm Day is an exciting 3.5-hour program, 9:30am-1:00pm, featuring goat milking.

Thankful Bellies - Enjoy a day of giving thanks to the amazing space that is Slide Ranch. We'll create poetry for our garden, enjoy fresh garden tea, herbed popcorn, fresh focaccia & pesto and celebrating the bounty our garden provides.

Additionally, you'll have the opportunity for self-guided tasting tours, and time with our chickens, ducks, goats, and sheep.

Come enjoy Slide Ranch early and camp under the stars Friday evening!

The contribution volunteers make at Slide Ranch truly helps us deliver our mission! Whether you're a student fulfilling community service hours or someone who wants to put your green thumb to good use, Slide Ranch provides challenging, engaging and meaningful experiences. 

All minors 17 years and under must be accompanied by a participating adult. Minors cannot be dropped off.

Parent/Chaperones must complete the online registration form AND register themselves as participants.

Join us in our Farm to Table Teaching Center Kitchen and learn about the art of fermentation! This 3 hour workshop includes materials and instruction on making kimchi, and two additional fermented or pickled foods that may include sauerkraut, ginger-bug, pickled vegetable, or kombucha depending on the season and produce availability. Fermented foods support digestion, healthy immune systems, and energy. 

At the end of our workshop, you will leave with your flight of fermented treats and new knowledge and inspiration to continue fermenting and preserving food at home! 

Fermented foods are a great holiday gift! Give the gift of experience and purchase a workshop spot for friends and family!

The garden gifts us with its bounty year round. Come explore its winter season and learn to make plant based gifts for friends, family, or yourself! We'll be making herb wreaths, tea, and salve. We'll also make candles to brighten the coming darker season.

In this paper-making workshop, you will learn the ins and outs of basic paper-making, working with recycled fibrous materials and experimenting with foraged, found natural fibers. We will discuss fiber as a concept for recycling, creativity, and community. This workshop will cover the basics of how to set yourself up for at-home paper-making, troubleshooting your own sheets, and how to experiment with plant materials and impressions. Hand made paper makes a wonderful gift! 

December 5th, 2026, 2-5pm, meets in the garden

Workshop Fee: $85/per person, open to ages 14+.

Join us for a special chicken processing workshop, where you’ll learn the full process of harvesting pasture-raised birds in a setting that’s both educational and deeply meaningful. Come learn, reflect, and work with us on the windswept cliffs of West Marin. It’s hard work deeply rooted in tradition. 

This is a chance to slow down, participate in a centuries-old practice with respect and intention, and reflect on what it means to raise and care for animals as part of a sustainable farm system. Together, we’ll be processing about 20 chickens. Participants will be guided step-by-step through humane dispatching, scalding and plucking, evisceration (internal cleaning), and final cleaning and chilling.

Throughout the day we’ll discuss animal ethics and land stewardship and how these practices are rooted in regenerative agriculture and community-based food systems.

Using our garden's fresh herbs and flowers as inspiration, we'll create a selection of delicious simple syrups and craft wonderful beverages we can savor while taking in Slide Ranch's views and beautiful garden. Participants will leave with recipes to enjoy throughout the seasons. Includes a taste tour of our garden and a sample of freshly crafted simple syrup to take home.

With just 30 seats at the table, this special evening invites you to slow down, savor the winter harvest, and share in the spirit of Slide Ranch.

Make your own natural watercolor pigments from invasive plants found along our trails. In this workshop, you will learn a creative approach and method to making watercolor pigments while in the field–learning how to successfully extract pigment, bind paint, and alter colors with iron or alum—actively engaging with our environment in a creative, exciting way. Pause for moments of reflection and painting along the way, as you begin to fill your new nature journal with the hues of foraged plants!
