Seasonal Transitions
Our blog has been on a bit of a hiatus as we wrapped up summer and transitioned to the coming season of programs, special events, and workshops. Of course, the ranch and surrounding environs are all transitioning too. Our new season's Outdoor Instructors are eager and ready to welcome groups. We're seeing young fledged owls practicing their hunting skills in our pasture (sorry he's too quick for a photo just yet!). Summer greens and vegetables are ending their life cycle and being cleared for fall and winter plantings. Our greenhouse is vibrant with new starts! Wild flowers have gone to seed with hopes of successful dispersal. The poison oak has become a wonderful autumn red in many places. We're witnessing more birds travelling through as well as signs of migrations under the ocean's surface. And our pasture is about ready to rest until Spring. Transitions can often be sources of stress and uncertainty, but I'd like to think of these natural cycles as opportunities to appreciate the many changes and cycles all around us. I hope you find a few moments to get outside and enjoy them.
P.S. Welcome the changes of season with us here at Slide Ranch! Join us at our Fall Equinox Triple Bath retreat, our Farm to Belly dinner, or one of our wonderful herbal workshops to help you prepare and welcome the coming change of seasons.
