Diego grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, where finding nature wasn't so easy. Eventually, while attending UC Davis, he found his passion for naturalist studies. Switching from studying Music to Wildlife Conservation, he became enamored with the inner workings of the world around us and how everything is connected. With a strong value in breaking down barriers, Diego hopes to share the natural world with those who are less likely to experience it.

I grew up on the central coast of California, surfing and exploring the natural surroundings. This sparked my interest in sustainability and in being a good land steward! Since then, I've studied sustainable agriculture and worked on a number of permaculture farms/gardens. My favorite part of this process was teaching these methods, which took me to Slide Ranch to educate on green living!

I moved here from Colorado in 2022, but grew up in Southern California and am happy to be back on the West Coast! I received my bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Sustainability from Sonoma State University, where I served as a Restoration Steward in the Campus Native Plant and Butterfly Garden. I’m passionate about habitat restoration and wildlife conservation, with a strong interest in wildflowers and coastal ecosystems. I worked as an Assistant in 2025 for a youth summer camp at Home Ground Habitats, a non-profit organization in Novato, CA, focused on nature exploration and protecting pollinator/wildlife habitats. I’ve loved being in nature for as long as I can remember and feel that protecting the beauty and functionality of our natural landscapes is important. I absolutely love creating art pieces with materials found in nature, reading poetry, and hiking across Marin County. My favorite hiking spots are throughout Point Reyes, Mount Tamalpais, and the Marin Headlands. I’m so excited to work with campers this summer to show them how they can interact with the land in a respectful and sustainable way.

Growing up in the Bay Area, Claire's favorite memories as a child involved hiking around Marin, tide pooling, and making magical visits to see the goats of Slide Ranch. This outdoor exploration at an early age informed her lifelong passion for sustainable food systems, small-scale farming, and nature-based learning. She aims to help kids foster a love for nature grounded in gratitude, imagination, and self-empowerment so that one day they can help protect it! Claire recently graduated from Scripps College where she pursued her degree in Environmental Analysis and worked on a small organic farm. Returning back for her second summer as an Outdoor Instructor, she can't wait to continue working with and learning alongside the creative and curious campers at Slide Ranch! (And, of course, hanging out with her bestie 41).

She spent nearly all of her summers in the cypress trees of Slide Ranch, both as a camper and then a CIT.
