SLIDE RANCH ANNOUNCES $50,000 NEW FUND FUNCTIONING AS ENDOWMENT IN HONOR OF CECILIA “CHITA” ABBOTT

MUIR BEACH, CA (September 14, 2019) — Slide Ranch announced today it has established a $50,000 fund functioning as endowment to honor the memory of Cecilia “Chita” Abbott. While Abbott passed away after a heroic fight against Mesothelioma on September 14, 2018, her legacy lives on through this new fund. Throughout her adult life, Chita had a passion for healthy living—from organic foods to supporting efforts to create a chemical-free environment. Chita expressed to her family during her final months that she still had so much work to do in these areas. “We are pleased to offer support to Slide Ranch in Chita’s memory to help bring youth with physical challenges to experience the splendor of West Marin,” said Dr. Abbott, Chita’s husband.

Slide Ranch will use this fund to provide scholarships to serve deaf and visually impaired kids and their families. “We are honored to be chosen by Dr. Richard Abbott and his family to bring Chita’s vision and legacy into action to support a healthy environment for all of us and future generations,” said Maika Llorens Gulati, Executive Director at Slide Ranch. “Thanks to the generosity of Abbott’s friends and family, our programs will grow and we will continue building on our commitment to connect kids of all abilities to nature. We are extremely grateful for this level of visionary support and we look forward to a long partnership with the Abbott family and friends.”

While the Abbott gift will make a substantial impact on Slide Ranch’s efforts, there is still a great need for support to continue to make these initiatives possible and sustainable for all. “Imagine the transformational impact subsequent large gifts can have on the lives of thousands of kids today, and future environmental stewards tomorrow,” Llorens Gulati said.
