Natural dyeing is fun and so much simple than you think! This three hour workshop will focus on getting beginners grounded in the basics of natural dye and making sure they have the resources and confidence to continue their dyeing adventures after the workshop. In this workshop, you will learn how to:

Create multiple colors from one dye pot

Create basic dye recipes

Source dye materials

Decode dye terminology

Correctly identify dye plants

Create an inexpensive dye kit

The workshop will be conducted in plain language to build understanding and confidence. If you can make tea, you can learn to natural dye. Whether you choose to upcycle old materials through natural dyeing or dye new materials, enjoying beautiful natural color has never been more taught in such a fun and straightforward style.

PREVIOUS WORKSHOPS:

Join Marin Coastal Bee Co expert Mike Turner for an inspiring introductory beekeeping workshop. Learn how the honeybees at Slide Ranch survive in a coastal climate! See two different types of hives—the Top Bar, and Langstroth. All experience levels welcome at this workshop that will include a history of beekeeping and a live “hive dive,” when participants will get to look inside the hive. Bring a veil and suit if you have it (it's ok if you don't!), and dress in light colors. This workshop is open to people 18 years and older. Following the workshop, participants are invited to bring their own lunch for continuing bee conversation at the Slide picnic tables overlooking the ocean.
